Sometimes you have to stop mid-dance

The Purpose Dance Has Many Moves

This week I was mapping out the rest of my year—planning how to move forward with the many paths I’m walking: my business, the podcast, Lonny’s Smile, the retreat work, learning, creative projects…

And somewhere in the middle of it, I lost the joy.
My body let me know before my brain did: aching jaw, sore eyes, a full-body hum of anxiety.

Even though the pressure to keep going was loud, I knew the only right move in that moment was to stop.
Not to reorganize. Not to push harder.
But to rest. To reset. To go down to the water and get quiet.

It made me think about that Jeanne Beker quote from last week:

“I continue to dance as fast as I can.”

Jeanne’s a trailblazer—fearless and tenacious—and there are times when fast dancing is exactly what the moment calls for.
But sometimes?

You need to pause mid-salsa.
Trade the tap shoes for bare feet in the grass.
Switch from a breakdance to a sway in the breeze.
Or simply sit down and let the music carry on without you for a little while.

What I’m learning (again):
A purpose-driven life isn’t one tempo.
It’s a whole playlist.
And knowing which rhythm you need right now—even when it feels counterintuitive—is a powerful kind of wisdom.

What’s your rhythm this week? A cha-cha? A slow jam? Total silence?
Reply and tell me—I’d truly love to know how you're moving through it.

Here’s to finding our rhythm,

Tamara

What if Purpose is the Real Fountain of Youth? This week, I had the honour of sitting down for coffee with a dear friend—someone doing deeply courageous work behind enemy lines, rescuing girls and women from human trafficking. It was the kind of conversation that stays with you. One insight, in particular, keeps echoing in my heart: “I feel like I’m getting younger every day—because my life is filled with purpose.” Let that land for a moment. It is for me. This is dangerous, emotionally...

The Power of “What If” “What and if are two words as non-threatening as words can be. But put them together side-by-side and they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life: What… if?” — Sophie, from the movie Letters to Juliet These two words are deceptively simple. But together? They’re powerful—maybe even life-defining. Sophie, Letters to Juliet: “What if?” — the question that haunts or heals. What if… I lose my job? My plans don’t work out? It’s all connected Truth be told, I’d be nowhere without connections. Not just professional contacts, but real relationships—the ones that expand your perspective, fuel your soul, and send you in a direction you couldn’t have imagined on your own. I’ve been reflecting today on three kinds of connections that have shaped my journey: Those who have selflessly made connections on my behalf Relationships that have sparked and grown beyond their original purpose The beautiful "dot-to-dot" magic...
