The magic of connection

It’s all connected

Truth be told, I’d be nowhere without connections.

Not just professional contacts, but real relationships—the ones that expand your perspective, fuel your soul, and send you in a direction you couldn’t have imagined on your own.

I’ve been reflecting today on three kinds of connections that have shaped my journey:

  1. Those who have selflessly made connections on my behalf
  2. Relationships that have sparked and grown beyond their original purpose
  3. The beautiful "dot-to-dot" magic that unfolds when you start seeing how it all ties together

Here are just two of the million examples I carry close to my heart:

  • My friend Rachel Pinnington connected me to my mentor, Susan Doniz, who has seen things in me that I couldn’t see in myself. Rachel also introduced me to Jonathan Landon, the best leader I’ve ever worked with.
  • Then there’s Jess Ayala, who was "randomly" paired with me as a partner during a coaching certification program. She’s now my Rooted in Purpose co-host, a soul sister, and the bridge to life-changing connections like Black Crow and Grandmother Redhawk—women I wouldn’t have encountered otherwise.

These aren’t just moments—they’re turning points. They’ve deepened my fulfillment, guided my work, and lit up my path with purpose.

The lesson?
Be open to the magic of being a connector and being connected. Let yourself learn from others. Be inspired by them. Be mentored. And then—give back.

Here’s a little exercise that might just blow your mind:
Take a few minutes today and map out the meaningful connections in your life. Who led you to who? And to what? And where did that take you?
You might find you’ve been weaving a beautiful, unexpected quilt all along.

Even the painful connections can offer lessons that become seeds for beautiful outcomes.

Here’s to every one of them—
And to the lush gardens they grow.

To the connections that shape our stories,
Tamara

What if Purpose is the Real Fountain of Youth? This week, I had the honour of sitting down for coffee with a dear friend—someone doing deeply courageous work behind enemy lines, rescuing girls and women from human trafficking. It was the kind of conversation that stays with you. One insight, in particular, keeps echoing in my heart: “I feel like I’m getting younger every day—because my life is filled with purpose.” Let that land for a moment. It is for me. This is dangerous, emotionally...

The Power of “What If” “What and if are two words as non-threatening as words can be. But put them together side-by-side and they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life: What… if?” — Sophie, from the movie Letters to Juliet These two words are deceptively simple. But together? They’re powerful—maybe even life-defining. Sophie, Letters to Juliet: “What if?” — the question that haunts or heals. What if… I lose my job? My plans don’t work out? I never get my business off the...

Maybe it's not about dreading Monday You’ve probably felt it — that quiet unease that creeps in on Sunday evening. We call it the Sunday Scaries, and it’s usually blamed on anxiety about the work week ahead. But here’s the thing: I love my work. The people, the purpose, the energy — it fills me up.So why does that feeling still arrive every Sunday night? The other day, my daughter said: “Maybe it’s not about work… maybe it’s about not having time for the other things you love.” That hit me in...
