“I continue to dance as fast as I can.”

Fearless, Tenacious, Unfinished

This week I watched an interview with Jeanne Beker — a name that might not ring a bell for my U.S. friends, but in Canada, she’s iconic.

She was the host of Fashion Television, a groundbreaking show that aired in over 130 countries and ran for 27 years — all before “fashion content” was a thing. Long before Instagram or MTV, Jeanne brought style, culture, and creativity to the screen. And she did it boldly, on her own terms.

At age 73, she just received the IMPACT Award at the Hollywood Reporter Women in Entertainment Canada event — an honour that celebrates women who’ve shaped media and paved the way for others.

But what struck me wasn’t just what she did — it was what she said:

“We got to blaze a lot of trails because we were making it up as we went along.”

Isn’t that exactly how so many purpose-driven paths are born?

Jeanne spoke about showing women that dreams can come true if you believe in yourself — really believe. And if you’re fearless, tenacious, and willing to keep showing up.

She said:

“Every great achievement in this life spurs you on to greater heights.”
“I want to continue having an impact.”
“I continue to dance as fast as I can.”

That last line stuck with me.

Because purpose isn’t one moment. It’s not a single role or achievement.
It’s the dance. The choice to keep showing up, even as the rhythm changes.

And sometimes, like Jeanne, we’re dancing fast — trying to honour what’s behind us and keep reaching for what’s next.

Wherever you are on your path — starting something new, rekindling something old, shifting direction, or spinning many plates — I hope Jeanne’s words remind you (like they did for me) that it’s never too late to blaze a new trail.

You don’t need a map.
Just some belief.
And a little willingness to make it up as you go.

What trail are you dancing your way through right now?
Hit reply — I’d love to hear.

Here’s to keeping the dance going,
Tamara

What if Purpose is the Real Fountain of Youth? This week, I had the honour of sitting down for coffee with a dear friend—someone doing deeply courageous work behind enemy lines, rescuing girls and women from human trafficking. It was the kind of conversation that stays with you. One insight, in particular, keeps echoing in my heart: “I feel like I’m getting younger every day—because my life is filled with purpose.” Let that land for a moment. It is for me. This is dangerous, emotionally...

The Power of “What If” “What and if are two words as non-threatening as words can be. But together? They’re powerful—maybe even life-defining. Sophie, Letters to Juliet: “What if?” — the question that haunts or heals. What if… I lose my job? My plans don’t work out? I’ve been reflecting today on three kinds of connections that have shaped my journey: Those who have selflessly made connections on my behalf Relationships that have sparked and grown beyond their original purpose The beautiful "dot-to-dot" magic...
