A latte, a mural, and the art of listening to yourself

Strawberry Rose Matcha & the Wisdom of Wandering

I'm sitting on the Film Café patio in Kensington Market in Toronto. It's a glorious Sunday morning.

I’ve just ordered a strawberry rose matcha latte and — I swear — it might be the prettiest thing I’ve ever been served.

Earlier, I wandered the eclectic streets that are just beginning to wake up, capturing photos of every vibrant mural I passed. In eight short blocks, I feel like I’ve had a full vacation. I’m renewed and re-energized for whatever this next cycle holds.

The staff is laughing in the open kitchen across from me. A wanderer dances and sings his way across the street. The breeze carries that soft, mindful Sunday energy — and in the hour I’ve sat here, I haven’t seen a single person in a rush.

We’re one short block from Spadina Avenue, and it feels a lifetime away.

I needed this.

I felt it in every cell of my body yesterday — and I can feel those same cells regenerating as I sit and sip and write.

One of the most important skills we need when we live multi-career, multi-path lives is this:
To notice what we need, and listen when the whispers begin.

To have our reset rituals and go-to places ready in our back pocket — and to visit them before the nudges become shouts, or the shouts become symptoms.

Maybe I’ve written about this before. Maybe I haven’t. Doesn’t matter.
It’s worth repeating.

Because I forget, too.
And today, Kensington Market — and this absolute artwork of a matcha latte — reminded me.

One precious sip at a time.

What are your go-to spots or rituals when you need to reset and recharge?
Write them down. Keep them close. You never know when your soul will ask you to remember.

To the whispers and wonders,
Tamara

What if Purpose is the Real Fountain of Youth? This week, I had the honour of sitting down for coffee with a dear friend—someone doing deeply courageous work behind enemy lines, rescuing girls and women from human trafficking. It was the kind of conversation that stays with you. One insight, in particular, keeps echoing in my heart: “I feel like I’m getting younger every day—because my life is filled with purpose.” Let that land for a moment. It is for me. This is dangerous, emotionally...

The Power of “What If” “What and if are two words as non-threatening as words can be. But put them together side-by-side and they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life: What… if?” — Sophie, from the movie Letters to Juliet These two words are deceptively simple. But together? They’re powerful—maybe even life-defining. Sophie, Letters to Juliet: “What if?” — the question that haunts or heals. What if… I lose my job? My plans don’t work out? It’s all connected Truth be told, I’d be nowhere without connections. Not just professional contacts, but real relationships—the ones that expand your perspective, fuel your soul, and send you in a direction you couldn’t have imagined on your own. I’ve been reflecting today on three kinds of connections that have shaped my journey: Those who have selflessly made connections on my behalf Relationships that have sparked and grown beyond their original purpose The beautiful "dot-to-dot" magic...
