When I slipped out of the flow, and how I found my way back

Putting the Joy Back In

This past little while, I noticed something quietly but clearly: I had slipped out of my flow. Not because I was doing too little, but because I was doing things with an edge of pressure that didn’t belong there. Somewhere along the way, joy started getting crowded out by urgency, and even the work I love began to feel like something I had to make work, rather than something I was invited to explore.

What brought me back wasn’t doing more.
It was taking the hustle out, and intentionally putting the joy back in.

One of the biggest shifts was reframing my relationship with my full-time role. Instead of seeing it as something that competes with my other paths, I came back to the truth: it actually gives me freedom.

It gives me stability.
It gives me space.
It gives me grace.

Because of it, I don’t have to force anything else to perform, produce, or prove itself. I get to create, experiment, and follow curiosity instead of pressure. Joy gets to lead again.

And here’s the other honest piece: I had to become my own coaching client.

I didn’t need to look for clients.
I didn’t need to “fix” anything externally.

I needed to sit with my own questions, notice my own resistance, and gently coach myself back to alignment. Before I support anyone else, I get to practice what I teach, starting with myself.

I am my first client.

That reminder shifted everything. When I stopped pushing and started listening again, the flow returned quietly, steadily, and truthfully.

If you’ve felt yourself slipping out of flow lately, here’s a gentle reminder:
You don’t need to hustle your way back.
You might just need to re-invite joy.

With ease,
Tamara

What courage feels like in a room This week, I had the privilege of attending a book event in Toronto featuring Gisèle Pelicot. I want to be very mindful in how I share this. There is a weight to her story that deserves respect, not retelling. So I won’t go into details here. I invite you to look it up or, better yet, to read her book, A Hymn to Life: Shame Has to Change Sides. But I do want to share what it felt like to be in that room. When she walked onto the stage, the entire audience...

The women who shape our lives Today is International Women’s Day, a day that commemorates women’s fight for equality and liberation within the broader women’s rights movement. It brings focus to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women. When I think about this day, my mind goes in a million directions. I think about the women who have influenced my life. My mum showed me that a woman can be a strong mother and partner while also pursuing a...

The power of loosening your grip As I write this, all that remains are the Closing Ceremonies. The final medals have been awarded. Some athletes have already gone home. Others are packing their bags. There are celebrations, disappointments, and quiet reflections. And I have reflections too. I’m thinking about Lindsey Vonn, who gave her comeback everything she had, competing with a torn ACL in her left knee and a partial titanium replacement in her right. After five surgeries (four done in...
